Vanilla Engineering Guide: 1 – 300 (WoW Classic Leveling)

Vanilla

Welcome to our WoW Vanilla Engineering Leveling Guide! This guide works for vanilla-era, SOM, and hardcore servers.

In vanilla, engineering is an extremely powerful profession. And that’s why you’ll see many minmaxers learning it. It is useful in both PvE and PvP. In PvE, you’ll be using powerful aoe items and nitro boots for speed runs. In PvP you’ll be using grenades to stun your opponents. That’s why it’s mandatory for every player in hardcore guilds.

Engineering offers many other perks as well – like unique items and the ability to teleport around the world.

Whenever I want to take the game more seriously, I’m 100% rolling engineering. That’s why I made this guide for you. So you can level it up more easily.

Total mats needed for 1 – 300 Engineering

Engineering guide WoW Classic

Start by learning engineering from one of these trainers:

Horde trainers

Alliance trainers

Apprentice engineering (1 – 75)

You will need 30 of them further down the line, so just keep making them until you have enough.

Don’t forget to train Journeyman engineering (75 – 150) once you reach skill level 50.

Journeyman engineering (75 – 150)

Also, don’t sell these, you will need them later.

Don’t forget to train Expert engineering (150 – 225) once you reach skill level 125. You can learn it from Springspindle Fizzlegear in Ironforge, and Roxxik in Orgrimmar.

Do both of these recipes until you have 40x Heavy Blasting Powder and 20x Whirring Bronze Gizmo. You will need those materials for later.

Expert engineering (150 – 225)

Also, don’t sell these, you will need them for the next step.

Don’t forget to train Artisan Engineering (225 – 300) once you reach skill level 200. You can learn it from Buzzek Bracketswing in Tanaris.

Also, don’t sell these, you will need them later.

Artisan engineering (225 – 300)

  • 225 – 235
13x Mithril Casing – 39x Mithril Bar (This recipe starts yellow, so you might need to make a bit more than 10.)

Also, don’t sell these, you will need them for the next step.

Engineering specializations

In vanilla, you can either become a Goblin or Gnomish engineer. Switching specializations is not easy. You’ll have to unlearn engineering and then learn everything again. So choose wisely.

Both of those have their perks with Goblin a bit more oriented on damage, and Gnomish on fun items. In my experience, hardcore players usually pick Goblin so they can craft their own Goblin Sapper Charge.

Goblin engineer

To start this specialization, talk with Tinkerwiz in Ratchet. He will send you to Tanaris to Nixx Sprocketspring. Then you’ll have to give him these items:

Gnomish engineer

Alliance players start this specialization by talking to Springspindle Fizzlegear in Ironforge. He will then send you to Tinkmaster Overspark, also in Ironforge.

Horde players start this specialization by talking to Tinkerwiz in Ratchet. He will then send you to Oglethorpe Obnoticus in Stranglethorn Vale.

Both Alliance and Horde players will have to deliver these items:

Thank you for reading our vanilla engineering leveling guide! Now you mastered the best profession in the game. You’ll be able to push more dps, and survive better in both PvE and PvP encounters. You’ll also be having a lot of fun with some of the fun items it offers. However, be careful – engineering is probably the least lucrative profession. If you are not an experienced player you’ll be down on money a lot.
